Description
Underway at sea in the artificial lake Nasser bound for Abu Simbel.

As the boat approaches the pier and we see distant views of the temple. The boat is moored and the visitors disembark.

We observe on the facade of the temple the four colossal, 20 meter-high statues of the Pharaoh Ramesses II, one of the most famous Pharaohs.

In a shot from bottom up, we watch the depictions of the two pharaoh's feet, the palms that rest on his legs, as well as the royal diadems they wear along with the double crown, the famous "nemes".

The film continues with a view of the lake from above, footage from the Small Temple which is dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Ramesses II's chief consort, Nefertari and closes with views from Lake Nasser and the mountains in it.

The Great Temple or Abu Sibel was built in 1224 BC during the reign of Ramesses II and is dedicated to the gods Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah, as well as to the deified Ramesses himself.

The temple was threatened when Nasser decided to build a 6km dam from the old Aswan High Dam and create an artificial lake. Hence the temple would be sunk beneath the surface. With the help of UNESCO, the temple was dismantled from its place and reassembled with precision, 210 meters from the water and 60 meters above its level.
